Call for Papers
We are pleased to announce that the Center for Growth and Opportunity (CGO) at Utah State University will host a single-track conference on experimental economics in Salt Lake City from May 16-18 of 2019.

This conference is open to all researchers using experimental methods in the social sciences. We would like to especially encourage researchers whose research has direct policy implications to attend.

For consideration, please send an abstract or manuscript to Lucas Rentschler (Utah State University) at [email protected]. The submission deadline is March 8, 2019. Notification of acceptance decisions will be made by March 15, 2019.

Keynote Speakers
Dr. James Murphy is the Rasmuson Chair of Economics at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). Prior to arriving at UAA, he was on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California Davis and studied experimental economics as a pre-doctoral fellow at the University of Arizona. As part of a university partnership to develop a new experimental economics program in China, he is also a visiting professor at Nankai University and Chairman of their new Nankai Vernon L. Smith Experimental Economics Laboratory.

He is an active board member of the International Foundation for Research in Experimental Economics, and is on the editorial board for both the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and Strategic Behavior and the Environment. He was a member of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council’s Scientific and Statistical Committee from 2011-2013.

Dr. Murphy’s research focuses on the use of experimental methods to address environmental policy and natural resource management issues.

Dr. James Murphy

James C. Cox is the Noah Langdale Jr. Chair in Economics and the Founding Director of the Experimental Economics Center at Georgia State University. He is also a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar. Dr. Cox has published more than 130 research papers in many areas of theoretical and applied economics including a core body of work in experimental economics. His past and current research has been supported by numerous grants from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and other organizations. Dr. Cox’s current work includes research on: (a) trust, reciprocity and altruism; (b) public goods and common pool resources;
(c) decisions under risk; and (d) decision-making in healthcare.

Dr. Cox also has significant experience leading real estate investment partnerships as well as experience providing strategic guidance and investment to start-up companies. Currently, Dr. Cox is a principal in a healthcare startup and an angel investor and board member in a clean technology start-up.

Dr. Cox was president of the Economic Science Association (1997-99) and president of the Southern Economic Association (2010-11).
