Smith Testifies Before Colorado House Finance Committee

CGO Research Manager Josh T. Smith testified before the Colorado state legislature’s House Finance Committee on April 17, 2019.

This is the second instance in 2019 where Smith was asked to testify on matters related to Colorado’s occupational licensing regulations. In February, he testified before the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee.

Smith’s remarks in April were similar to those presented before, where his written testimony outlines the current academic research on occupational licensing across the US. His overall findings suggest that licensing regulations often limit opportunities for employment, raises costs of goods and services, and does little to protect consumers.
