Dr. John B. Taylor Delivers George S. Eccles Memorial Lecture in Economics

On March 26, 2019, the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business and the Center for Growth and Opportunity at Utah State University welcomed noted economist and scholar, Dr. John B. Taylor, to speak at the George S. Eccles Memorial Lecture in Economics.

Dr. Taylor, who currently is the Mary and Robert Raymond Professor of Economics at Stanford University, and the George P. Shultz Senior Fellow in Economics at the Hoover Institution, delivered his address, The Outlook for Economic Policy and the Economy, before a crowd of students, faculty, university administrators, local leaders, members of the press, and friends of Utah State University.

Dr. Taylor formerly served as senior economist and member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and is widely considered to be one of the world’s leading experts on central banking and monetary policy. His address focused on the current state of the U.S. economy and what trends we can expect to see in the rest of 2019 and beyond.

The event is named for George S. Eccles — a Cache Valley native, alumnus of USU, noted philanthropist, and esteemed businessman — who sought to bring world-renowned experts in the fields of banking, finance, or economics to USU’s campus. His vision was to create a tradition that would engage students while elevating the intellectual discussion in this community on issues of finance and economics.
